Brief
Dzong; meaning fortress-monastery is a style of architecture mainly found in Bhutan and some parts of Tibet. It's interesting to note how the same style of architecture can also be found in North-Eastern parts of India. Over 600 years old, Dirang Dzong is a complex currently functioning as administrative and cultural zone for a settlement of Monpa Tribe in Dirang area of Arunachal Pradesh. A documentation study was done capturing the elements of vernacular architecture within the complex.
How is it that we unfold a new space in our head?
As Dirang Dzong is also a tourist spot, the study is presented as a foldable travel brochure. Starting from an introduction to Dirang Dzong, understanding the people and their culture, to important architecture elements, spaces and their functions; the brochure tries to capture how we unfold a new space in our head.
